Individual Member Use
The Co-op Advantage bulk purchasing
program will help your co-op keep costs down. SACHA continues to research
new partners to expand and improve the program. Prices are also compared
regularly to make sure the programs are more than competitive.
Call the office or email
with any questions, comments or suggestions about The
Co-op Advantage. They are always welcome.
Please read the introductory material at the beginning of each section
(Appliances, Flooring, etc.) carefully. It explains how to use that program,
what the fee structure is (if there is one), and who to contact for more
information. Each contract has been individually negotiated, so the way
they work is different.
If your co-op has not used the bulk purchasing program yet, please fill
out the “Bulk Purchasing Agreement” form
(in your Co-op Advantage binder,
or call the office), have it signed by the appropriate members, and return
it to SACHA’s office.
Benefits
Saves Money – There is power in numbers. More co-ops in the group
- better prices.
Supports the Co-op Sector – Every year, SACHA gets a rebate from
some of its partners based on the amount of gross sales. This income helps
to keep dues low and allows for development of other bulk-purchasing programs.
Ensures Strong After-sale Service – The suppliers understand that
every co-op is important, whatever its size, and that future sales depend
on the satisfaction of each participating co-op.
Allows Member Upgrades – Individual co-op members can choose a
better grade of flooring or an appliance with more features if they are
willing to pay the difference in price, while the co-op does not pay more
for their regular orders.
Offers a Full Range of Products – Supplies are chosen who offer
the fullest range of products at the bes price. It is important for co-ops
to have as much choice as possible.
Supplies Unbiased Advice – Confused by too many choices? Don’t
know which product is best for your co-op? SACHA can help you choose the
replacements and improvements that work best for you and your budget,
based on what other frederations and other co-ops have learned.
Means Confidence and Peace of Mind – Prices are compared regularly
to make sure the programs remain competitive.
Saves Volunteer and Staff time
Individual Member Use
SACHA has negotiated bulk purchasing agreements with several suppliers
for all SACHA’s member co-ops. In many cases, the individual members themselves
can also use the programs. When your membership can buy cheaper appliances,
paint, office supplies, and flooring, and save money on financial service
charges, they receive more value from belonging to your co-op. In order
for individual members to use the program, the Board of Directors of their
co-op must agree to be responsible for payment. The Board may, of course,
make any arrangements with their membership for payment they deem appropriate.
Call SACHA's office to get a copy of an agreement many co-ops use when
their members wish to buy appliances or flooring through the Co-op Advantage.
